When I was younger my friends and I went to the movies all the time. I simply don’t have the time to go to the theaters that much anymore. I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy a good movie anymore, because I do! I love watching movies, but life just gets in the way.
I have to admit that my decline in theater attendance is partly due to technology. With 4K technology, quality sound options and a quicker turn around time to blu-ray, it feels like the movies have come home in a bigger way than ever before. Why deal with crowds, crying kids, people rudely texting or other distractions when you can have a great experience at home. Those are some of the reasons why I gave up the movie theater experience, but Regal Cinemas have pulled me back with their collectible tickets. I love collecting things, especially posters and movie related merchandise, so it’s no surprise that I’m going to the movies again.
Regal has given me a pretty cool incentive to go back to the movies again. These collectible movie tickets almost feel like a trophy. With each ticket it feels like I’m leveling up on some kind of video game quest. No, I’m just joking, but they are pretty damn cool. Most recently, I saw Power Rangers and Ghost in the Shell during their respective opening weekend premieres. These unique tickets adds something special to the movie experience. I personally believe that one of these collectible tickets will look very cool framed along whith the movie’s poster. Now, collectible tickets are one thing, but Regal goes on step further and offers a reward program. With their Regal Crown Club you can use your points to buy posters, merchandise and snacks. You can even use your points to buy a huge IMAX poster that’s almost six feet tall.
Collecting may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy it. I love owning a piece of the movies that I love, whether it’s a poster, collectible ticket or something in between. One thing is for sure, I can’t wait to get my collectible ticket for Guardians of the Galaxy and see it in 3D IMAX.
Post Script, I have to admit that these collectible tickets are a great marketing strategy to get people like me to go back to the movie theaters. Here’s an sneak peak of the Guardians of the Galaxy collectible ticket.
