What is 4K, and why do I need it?
4K is ultra high resolution, which is like having four 1080p televisions lined up together to make a square. With 4K you have four times the resolution than standard high definition, so you get 4,000 pixels horizontally and 2,000 vertically. Another benefit of a 4K display is that you get a larger range of colors, which makes for a more true to life picture. I recommend getting 4K television in 2016, because prices are the lowest that they have ever been and there’s quite a few devices that support this resolution.
What is the difference between 4K and Ultra High Definition?
They are basically the same thing, and are simply just different ways of marketing 4K.
What id High Dynamic Range?
HDR gives you a wider range of whites and blacks, which in turn leads to a clearer image. It’s important to make sure your 4K TV has this feature if you want one of the best 4K televisions available today.
I have HDMI cables why should I buy new ones? Just how not all 4K televisions are the same; not all HDMI cables are the same too. I have all AudioQuest cables on my 4K TV. They offer solid cores with silver plating that way you get a better picture. Siver is the best conductor of electricity, so it makes sense that the picture will look better with these cables. Just think about it for a minute. You invested your hard earned money in a great TV, so you are going to want the right cables that will help your TV be the best it can be.
But I thought that there’s no content?
That’s not entirely true. Where there’s still no 4K content being broadcasted on cable or satellite, there’s other ways to watch 4K content. Firstly, Netflix has a growing Library of 4K content that include original TV shows, and movies. On top of Netflix, 4K users now have the ability to buy 4K Blu-ray player. Furthermore, most 4K TVs should do a perfectly good job of upscaling high definition content. It is important to note that not all 4K TVs are equal, and some have better upscaling capabilities than others.
What is upscaling?
Upscaling is when a TV takes high definition content, fills in the missing pixels so the picture looks more like a high definition image.
Why do I need a 4K Blu-ray player when my 4K TV does a good job at upscaling high definition content?
You might want to consider a 4K Blu-ray player if you have a 65 inch TV or larger, and have 120 Hz on your TV. With 120 Hz your TV will have an smoother frame rate, so all those pixels on your screen will be much clearer than they would be with a 60 Hz television.
My PlayStation four has a Blu-ray player does play 4K Blu-ray’s?
Not right now but I’m sure most people know that there is a rumored 4K Playstation 4 that should be coming out this holiday season.
What 4K device should I buy with my television?
If you’re a gamer, I recommend waiting for PlayStation 4.5, AKA PlayStation 4K. If it’s not just a rumor it should be announced next week at E3. That way you can stream 4K content, Watch 4K Blu-rays, and game in 4K. If you’re not a gamer I recommend getting Amazon’s Fire TV. That way you can stream shows and movies with Amazon Prime, Netflix and more in 4K.
