I’m a big Resident Evil fan when it comes down to the movies, but I have never been able to get pass any of the games. Well, that was true until Resident Evil 7 came out. I’ve always enjoyed the quick paced action shooter type of game, but the typical Resident Evil game wasn’t cutting it for me. That being said, I hated not being able to run and shoot. I just feel like it is completely unrealistic that I can’t freaking shoot and run. That has all changed with this latest installment. I can finally run and shoot!
Don’t feel worried if you have never finished any other game in the franchise either. This installment feels more like a reboot than a sequel. Even though I have never finished a previous game, I am still well aware of the basic plots and stories in the previous games.
Furthermore, the claustrophobia nature of this latest game feels very much like the first game. Much of Resident Evil 7 takes place in a mansion just like the first game with a ton of backtracking. As just a fun fact when Capcom first planned on bringing their game to the US the name Biohazard was already taken. Resident Evil is actually a cleaver pun, because the game takes place in a Residence. Making RE7 the way Capcom did has brought Resident Evil back to its roots.
The bottom line is that RE7 is a fresh and thrilling game that anyone can hop on to. As far as the length, it took me a little over 8 hours. But the experience was definitely worth it. Not to mention there are multiple endings and a unlockable secret difficulty called Madhouse.
